Holiday Potluck Dinner and Program: Threats and Strategies to help the Bi-State Distinct Populations of Greater Sage-Grouse

Upcoming Eastern Sierra Audubon Programs

When: Normally on the FIRST Wednesdays (unless otherwise noted) of October, December, February, and April; 7:00 PM (see Events Calendar) and sometimes additional months.
Where: Venues vary - in the past we've held programs at the White Mountain Research Center, Owens Valley Station (4 mi. East of Bishop on East Line St., see Map, or the USFS/BLM Office Meeting Room in Bishop (see Map) - See program details for information and updates.

Evening programs will be preceded by (1) announcements of interest to the membership, and (2) sharing of recent bird sightings and other news on the local natural history scene. Check back here or local news media for possible changes.

Holiday Potluck Candlelight Dinner and Program, December 6th, 6pm

The December 6th meeting is also our annual Holiday potluck candlelight dinner, held at 6pm in the dining room of the White Mountain Research Center.

Do plan to attend as it is a fun event, and bring a friend or neighbor! Every participant should bring a dish (entrée, salad, or dessert to serve at least 6 people, and contribute either juice, soft drinks, wine or beer to the beverage table.) We often run out of food, so we would appreciate contributions of larger portions so there will be sufficient food for everyone. Please bring your own place setting. Audubon will provide coffee, tea, juice, and a touch of wine prior to the dinner. Also, we encourage you to bring more main dishes and salads this year than desserts, as last year we ran out of main dishes, but had leftover desserts. Everyone was still happy and well-fed, though! Arrive by 6pm for our potluck dinner.

Join us at White Mountain Research Center, Owens Valley Station, on Wednesday December 6th, 2017, for our annual holiday candle-light potluck dinner (6pm), followed by a special presentation by Dr. John Severson and Dr. Steven Mathews, researchers with the U.S. Geological Survey, who will talk about the threats to sage-grouse and their habitat, and how strategies, such as translocations, can be used to help populations. local Greater Sage-Grouse populations (7pm).

Local Bi-State Distinct Population of Greater Sage-Grouse program

Want to learn more about the local Bi-State population of the greater sage-grouse and what is being done to help protect these iconic birds of the American West? Join us at Eastern Sierra Audubon's annual Holiday Potluck Candlelight Dinner and Program to find out!

The potluck begins at 6 pm and will be held at the White Mountain Research Station located in Bishop, California. Please bring your own place setting, drinks, and one of the following items to share with others: main dish, salad, or dessert. This is a great way to learn what our chapter is up to and reconnect with members of Eastern Sierra Audubon.

The program will begin at 7 pm. Drs. John Severson and Steven Mathews, both researchers with the U.S. Geological Survey, will talk about the threats to sage-grouse and their habitat, and how strategies, such as translocations, can be used to help populations.
